Exactly what I expected, but a little more so. I love the authors' blog, Go Fug Yourself, both for the general hilarity and the fact that they love some of the same trash that I do but are completely self-aware, and there were a few descriptions that made me laugh out loud, and not just the ones that were clearly directed at their blog audience (though clearly ANYONE wearing shiny formal shorts is a bad sign).
The story itself doesn't quite match the title, in a good way; there is just a lot of designer/LA/brand-awareness. I was a little slow to love a few characters, but once I met the ones I realized I was actually supposed to love, it worked nicely. Plus while the authors are clearly aware of formula, it was nice that in a few ways they side-stepped them (the character is CLEARLY supposed to X, because characters in this situation always do X, so let's just ... not) even though sometimes they rightly just followed through.
Also, there is a character named Arugula.
So: 4 stars within genre/type, for sure; 3 straight-up.
