Absolutely Truly
by Heather Vogel Frederick
Lots of threads, but woven together easily: Dad loses arm in Afghanistan (not being the same temperament), moving from what would have been their first real family home in Texas, being tall, being teased, new girl in school, trying not to lose family store, and a mystery.
I like the bookstore setting, literary references, bird watching details, sense of history affecting the present day (yearbooks, old theater programs, etc.). Fun family dynamic, they really care about each other. Issue with dad is serious, but not TOO serious.
I sense a series.
