Circe by Madeline Miller

2.0

I’m very impressed with people who really liked this book. I was pretty hyped to read it and I liked the beginning and a couple parts in the middle. The description was well done and I could imagine every scene. However, it felt like I was just watching Circe talk to different people. So much talking and so little happening. She just yaps to everyone and they yap back. It’s like I’m watching people meet up for coffee and listening to their lives. At times, I couldn’t stand it and it frustrated me getting so bored and zoning out while I was reading it. I tried an audio book too. I suppose it’s a good retelling of what happened in her life and at the very least, I learnt more about Greek mythology than I had known prior. Who knows? I wouldn’t really recommend this book but I think I might if I came across the right person. I’m glad people did like it. I read this before song of Achilles and I’m hoping that Circe is nothing like what song of Achilles will be. I just felt like nothing really happened. She got exiled and had a kid and met some sailors and helped birth the Minotaur. Apart from that, she just yapped. Not really a book for me, but I’d tell some people to give it a try at least.
