had this book for 4-5 years and only got around to reading it this year! my appetite for pop linguistics was more or less entirely evaporated by reading far too much of it in the run up to my degree, so many popling books ended upon being given away without me having read them, but i thought this one had a specific, interesting and relatively-unknown-to-me angle on the genre that i'd get something out of it.

and i was right! the book does a good job of introducing all yr ling 101 essentials as any popling does, but properly uses it as a jumping off point for a more specific exploration of the sociolinguistics of being on the computer. solid popling fun. huge fan of the lingcod
