White Bread: A Social History of the Store-Bought Loaf by Aaron Bobrow-Strain
4.0
This book was fascinating. I very much enjoyed reading about the Latin American ties to bread. I had been aware of Grahamism, but the parts on MacFadden and the ties between bread consumption and eugenics were mind-blowing. I was thinking about doing a side project on wheat bread production, but this book has me rethinking that idea. I enjoy that Bobrow-Strain encourages thinking outside the box when it comes to our consumer choices and attitudes and who is effected by these choices. I have a lot to digest from this book, so to speak.
