A post climate disaster Alberta houses citizens who have been infected by a mysterious fungal parasite. Reid, a young woman, has been given the chance to go away to school to the last pre-disaster community. However that means she must leave her community, everything she’s ever known, and family behind. In order to ensure her family is set she jumps at the chance to join a dangerous mission. But how can everyone else trust her if she herself can’t trust her mind?

First off you should know this is a YA title that’s a hard hitting, deep philosophical story with fantastic prose. A mix of speculative fiction, dystopian themes and literary tones have been pulled off all with scientific research. This eco conscious story definitely had me flipping pages quickly.

Ultimately what I loved most was how optimistic this was. When you hear the term “post apocalyptic” you expect dreary settings and a heavy-ness you can’t quite place. The Annual Migration of Clouds was hopeful and completely different than what I expected. It was refreshing! I can’t stress enough how beautiful the writing was, poetic and scientific. My brain was on fire absorbing this story.
