Three Missing Days
by Colleen Coble
I really enjoy how Coble crafts a book with flawed characters, suspense, movement, and history. You want to know the characters because they've lived these full other lives, you invest in them because they're all too human, struggling in their relationships, faith, and careers. You may even stay up way too late into the early morning hours because you're so engrossed in what happens next. Three Missing Days did not disappoint as the finale of the Pelican Harbour series. I felt things a little more in this one, but perhaps it triggered my mama instincts as I have two younger teenage boys at home and could not imagine Jane's situation in having to support her son during a murder investigation and having to step back so justice prevails. Nope.
I did feel a little disconnected - like something was missing since the last title I read - but I just realised this evening that I never actually read the second book. Technically, this could be read as a standalone but I feel it works best with the foundation of the other two books to clear up a few points of reference. Overall, another gripping read that answered all the lurking questions.
My thanks to the publisher, Thomas Nelson, for the complimentary copy via NetGalley. The opinions expressed are entirely my own.
