surprisingly, this was really good.
i say "surprisingly" because the first act literally took me MONTHS to get through. and then suddenly, not sure how, i became invested in the story of these characters. i began to root for cyrano and roxanne, and was cheering for their romance. i was entertained by the witty lines rostand included in the story. i was surprised because i went from hating and being bored by the first act to thouroughly enjoying everything else.

"to displease is my pleasure. i love that one should hate me. dear friend, if you but knew how much better a man walks under the exciting fire of hostile eyes!"
