Cute but felt rushed.

I liked the retelling part of this story and the setting was definitely whimsical. However, I don’t know exactly why but this felt very MG and not YA. I think one of the main reasons it didn’t work for me is that everyone seemed to be running around like headless chickens without really a specific direction. The pace was just too quick and everything felt hurried. It was supposed to be over a month time but felt more like 24h…

There were also a few too many characters that didn’t get to be developed and were there just for the purpose of the plot, which made it feel even more MG. The twitsts and reveals related to the characters were more than obvious which made it feel very fairytale like but also very childish.

The giveaway messages were very mushy and feel-good, and although I don’t mind a cheesy story this just ended up feeling more like a children’s story than a YA novel.

Overall, quite cute but too immature and fast paced to my liking. I don’t think I’m the target audience and I don’t think that the marketing team has found the target audience either…
