Dear Mr. Brody by A.M. Johnson

5.0

I love reading a story that touches you and let me tell you, there are some spectacularly magical elements to this amazing book. I loved Wilder’s story, I loved Ander’s story more, and A.M. Johnson left me all in my feels after finishing Donovan’s poignant story about finding love when you need it, when you don’t expect it, and when you deserve to let the past go so you can find happiness. This age gap, MM romance between a professor/literary agent and his 24 year old student was so sweet, and will pull at your heartstrings often and in the best of ways.

Parker is a gay man who enlisted to fulfill his father’s dream. He tried to live out, but quickly and painfully discovered that wasn’t possible. As soon as his contract was up, he left and began a business degree, but secretly desires to be a writer. Signing up for a creative writing course, he meets Donovan, his professor who is following his lifelong dream to teach. They meet again at a club and sparks fly. Because the college has a strict policy, Donovan and Parket must keep their relationship a secret. Parker flirts constantly with him and despite Van’s efforts to keep his distance for a multitude of reasons, their chemistry and connection is too strong to be denied.

There were SO many things I loved about this story. The many levels that Van and Parker care about each other hit my heart over and over again. Given they both have a love of writing, A.M. Johnson wove a fictitious retelling of Peter Pan featuring an MM storyline which gave a magical touch to this love story. She makes parallels between the story and their tale and creates a romance that simply must be on your TBR. I can’t recommend this book enough.
