Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel

Mantel has seamlessly created a novel that is exceptionally modern, despite being set almost five hundred years ago. I absolutely loved following the sprawling cast of characters throughout part of Henry VIII’s reign. Mantel’s relentless use of the pronoun ‘he’ makes reading the novel a bit confusing; often times I had to double check which character was speaking. Despite this, I thought the novel was fantastic and I am anxiously awaiting the sequel Bring Up The Bodies to arrive at my doorstep.
