We Lie Here by Rachel Howzell Hall

I’ve been recommended this book so many times I had high expectations. I love psychological thrillers with a jaw dropping twist and this one was a very slow burn. Twist wasn’t that predictable, but this isn’t a book I would recommend to my friends. Additionally, I found some of the writing a bit redundant; at one point a character called themselves “the goat” and another followed up with “what are you the greatest of all time at?” Little things like that I didn’t care for. With that being said, you do have to have decent knowledge of AAVE to fully understand some of the books dialogue. If you do get this book I would recommend reading it instead of listening to the audiobook. There are 2 different POVs but they can get confusing if you aren’t following along.
