I know, I know. We're like really late on this book. But for a book to get 5 stars from us is totally mind-boggling. How did this book come to surpass the others, you ask? There were too many reasons to say. Michael Scott, the author of the New York Times bestselling series, has managed to appall us with the book The Alchemyst.
One thing that really stuck out to us was of course, the characters. They were so well developed and emotional throughout the entire story. I mean, their personalities stayed intact from beginning to end. If you didn't already know, some of the characters were actually based off of real life people. Nicholas Flamel was a renowned alchemist who developed a reputation over his years. One character in particular really stuck out to us the most: Scatty or Scathach, a legendary Scottish warrior. We swear, she was the funniest character with her quips and comments. She was actually a vampire, but she was also a vegetarian. We honestly don't know why that cracked us up so much.
This book was unruly! One minute you would be cheering for one of the characters in the middle of a battle scene and the next, you were balling over another character's death. We loved it. We just loved it so much! Unlike most books, The Alchemyst was filled with action from the very beginning. If you managed to blink while reading, you would miss some really vital information!
Anyways, this book is definitely a must read. if you're looking for an adventure-packed, crazy, unruly, book, then this is the one for you! Don't forget to read the rest of the series. We, here at Book Buzz, currently have a new mission: track down the rest of the series! Stay tune for the character analysis. NOTE: IF YOU DON'T GO OUT AND READ THIS BOOK, YOU ARE UNDOUBTEDLY CRAZY!
