Blue Birds by Caroline Starr Rose

Oh, I loved this one. The story of Alus and Kimi, am unlikely friendship in hard times for each. They are pushed well beyond the allowed, the accepted, and should in fact fear each other, but instead forge a bond despite everything attacked against them. What a beautiful story, and such a treasure to know that it comes from the historical accounts of the Lost Colony of Roanoke.
