Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones

adventurous lighthearted

3.0

With Howl’s Moving Castle being my favourite comfort film I naturally decided to read the book hoping for the same vibes. It is fair to say I now understand that the Studio Ghibli film is loosely based on the book so it was a bit strange as a Ghibli fan to acclimatise to the new setting and tone of the books as the relationships and even characters are very different in the book. However, I found it equally delightful to explore the depths of the world as it was originally intended and how all the interactions were so different but still enjoyable. This was a fun read and had the romance between Howl and Sophie been what it was in the film, I would’ve read the rest of the series in a heart beat. I shall have to find out more to see if the romance develops, as I will definitely finish the series if they do end up together!
