The Christmas Swap
by Talia Samuels
A good typical hallmark Christmas movie, with a lesbian twist.
At first, it wasn't a great book – just as your typical Christmas movie is not a great movie. The scenario is quick and easy, it's not really brilliant technically, you know exactly how it's going to end. Yet, you're hooked and you slip in some sort of cinnamon sweet fuzzy story and that's okay.
Yet, what was a good addition I reckon was the mention of deeper things, like emotional abuse, family trauma, mental and neurological illnesses. It's not dark, I can't pronounce myself about how triggering it may be but it brings some serious issues in these always perfect sceneries.
I liked it more than I thought I'd like it. I didn't have lots of expectations, just an easy read for the holidays, and it was that.
