The Seven Necessary Sins for Women and Girls
by Mona Eltahawy
« the most subversive thing a woman can do is to talk about her life as if it really matters, because it does. »
Mona Eltahawy strikes again with an unapologetic feminist manifesto, declaring the seven “sins” she deems necessary to commit by girls and women to defeat the patriarchy and any form of bigotry.
Those sins -admirable traits when committed by men- are anger, attention, profanity, ambition, power, violence and lust.
Eltahawy once again, writes from the heart and from personal experience; she tells the stories of women from different backgrounds who committed these sins to defeat and fight the patriarchy, xenophobia, homophobia, and all types of bigotry. The hate they were subjected to, the assault and in some cases the imprisonment they faced because they chose to fight.
Heart wrenching, realistic, brutal and unapologetic. Mona’s ideas, books and essays might be my favorite manifestos to read !
