Keturah by Lisa T. Bergren
4.0

Absolutely loved this book! I was drawn in from page one. It was easy to be drawn to Keturah because of her strength and determination. Her sisters each bring a different quality to the adventure they embark on to the West Indies.

Gray Covington is headed to the West Indies to prove to himself (and his family) that he can be more than what everyone thinks he is, a mooch. He finds himself on the same ship as his childhood friend, and hopes they can rekindle that friendship or something more!

From the moment they board the Redemption you know life as they knew it is gone. They're heading toward plantations that might leave them all penniless. As expected life at their plantations is quite a challenge, but harder than they truly expected! How will they ever make the sugar crops successful?

I enjoyed the writing and the characters so much that I'm already pining for book 2! Keturah is stubborn, but you can see through her cracks that she desires more than what life has offered her. Gray made poor choices as he entered into adulthood, but he's determined to change his course. It's an equation that adds up to very high stakes.
