An Anonymous Girl by Greer Hendricks, Sarah Pekkanen
3.0

3.5 stars.

Pros:
- I enjoyed the dual perspectives in this novel. One told in first person and the other told in second, made the atmosphere so close and eerie.
- The development of the characters throughout felt realistic (in a sense). I understood why a character was acting a certain way for the most part, and I enjoyed the descent into the final conflict.
- I think the trope of a woman losing her mind over a man is overdone, but it was used in quite an elegant way here.

Cons:
- The husband felt so bland and cookie cutter to me. I couldn’t understand how he had swathes of women falling for him everywhere he went. WHY?
- A particular sentence structure really bothered me throughout the novel. ‘“I’ll be there,” Thomas is told.’ Over and over and it felt too clunky to me.
- While the atmosphere was good all the way through, the final climax was dragged out too long. It lessened the impact overall and made me exhausted to keep reading.

Some things I liked and some things I didn’t. 3.5.
