Nope nope nope nope nope
When the book started with the heroine being 16 and homeless, I expected her to get taken in by the heroes and then for the timeline to jump forward 2 years and THEN for the romance to start. But when there was no indication that the story would jump forward, I expected there to be no sexual activities at least, and for it to be a sloooow burn romance. But NOPE, even that was too much to hope for. When the heroine dry humped a something-hundred years old(they hadn't disclosed their ages at this point, but they were DEFINITELY wayyyy older than her mere 16 years of age) guy and he didn't stop her and rather urged her along, I just couldn't do it any longer. I ignored the sorta-kissing and platonic sleeping together that happened before the dry hump, but this was apparently the hard limit for me.
My other issue with this book is that the heroine is ABSOLUTELY unrealistically portrayed. She cries every two seconds the moment ANYTHING happens that inconveniences her like a frigging 2 year old, which she even admits herself. But you would think a girl that spent 16 years(aka her whole life) on the streets and doesn't even have an actual name, would be more hardened than that. Speaking of hardened, how does she know what a prostitute is and that being one is frowned upon by society, but DOESN'T KNOW what sex actually is?!?! Is that level of immaturity even POSSIBLE at 16 ESPECIALLY when you're living on the streets??? She claimed she read hundreds of books in the library but reeeally? She didn't come across what sex means or learn what an orgasm is? She was about to get raped right before they found her for God's sake!!! And she even asked them "what they expected her to do for them" in a way that implied sexual favors, so again, how, HOW can she not know what sex is?!
Also one other thing, if she lived on the streets with a crazy lady from her birth till she ran away(assuming at about 5/6 yrs old), and never went into the system, how on Earth did she even learn to read? That's just a minor complaint of mine in comparison to the previous things I mentioned. All in all, it's just a complete disappointment mainly because of the annoying, unrealistic heroine.
