Emily Climbs by L.M. Montgomery

5.0

I loved this sequel to Emily of New Moon; L.M. Montgomery's writing flows easily and she captures Emily's thoughts so easily—which is no surprise, considering Montgomery seems to have modeled Emily after certain aspects of her own life. Emily has tenacity, ambition, and resolve in a way I can only envy.

As with any book written during a different era, it's interesting to see what was looked down upon (school plays, writing fiction?!) and what was considered upright. It's a major reason I enjoy reading older books—what a great time capsule!

I'm looking forward to completing the Emily of New Moon collection!
