A Study in Death by Anna Lee Huber

5.0

Another thrilling book in the Lady Darby series.

Lady Darby is finishing a portrait for a new client and friend when the woman dies suddenly and lady Darby believes it to be murder. However, no one but her fiance an inquiry agent believes her. She has an uphill battle to prove she is right when rumors from her past as an anatomists wife get in the way of anyone taking her seriously. Add to that her fiance's father and friend of the murdered woman's husband shows up to try and break up her engagement. At home she's worried about her bedridden sister who is having complications with her fourth pregnancy. With worry and stress on all fronts and a new danger stalking her it's a race to see if she can solve her new friends' murder or become a victim herself.

This book is face paced with twists you don't expect but stay true to the main mystery. The characters show emotional and psychological growth and are well rounded to even the third tier characters. The descriptions were detailed without being distracting. I am looking forward to the next installment of the series.
