The Hundred Years' War on Palestine by Rashid Khalidi

5.0

Not only is this a supreme example of logic and masterful historical analysis but the small windows we get into Rashid Khalidi's personal life create poignant moments of almost overwhelming emotion into a sea of facts and events. Khalidi's life experiences are not overt, in fact I wish there had been a little bit more of them, but these small gentle touches remind you that the facts and history you are reading happened to real people, and happened recently. Seeing photographs of his grandfathers home still abandoned and empty, or the destroyed lot that was his brothers home, really brings the historical information into a unassailable context.

Khalidi's masterful understanding of the ebb and flow of history is shown here in his capability to track different causes and effects of each event or situation. Following the many differing countries and their polices, procedures, and actions involved in the evolution of Palestine and bringing it all together to create a massive picture with full clarity into an increasingly complex situation.
