Martha Wells does a really good job of finding ways to keep this series fresh, and publishing a novel is one of them!
On the one hand, I think that having a novel-length Murderbot book does allow for some interesting character development, which pays off from an emotional standpoint. On the other hand, I think the novel length proves that Martha Wells doesn't need to write novel-length works to make a Murderbot story that is compelling. This book did win a Hugo, and I think it is deserving of it, but I found that I actually enjoyed some of the previous books in the series more.
