De Anima (On the Soul) by Aristotle

4.0

One of the more interesting of Aristotles' books, it asks the fundamental question, "What is the soul" and gets about as far with finding an answer as we get today. Gives a nice overview of his contemporaries on the matter, and tries to tie this subject in with his other seminal works (metaphysics, biology, etc.). Because of this, it's not the best book by Aristotle to start with, rather, read it after a grounding in his physics, then his metaphysics and biology, to appreciate his philosophical progression.
