The Forest of Hands and Teeth
by Carrie Ryan
Words can not describe how I feel about this book. Maybe it's because it was so different from anything I have ever read and was a fresh breath of air in my world of young adult literature, but this was amazing. Ryan makes you fall in love with every character and feel sincerely, genuinely emotionally attached to each one. You want them to survive this world of hell they have been born into and want them to have a happy ending. It is not so, and that is what makes the journey to the end so heartbreaking but real. That's what I loved too, even though the book's premise is something that is definitely not probable in our own world, it seems like it could be. The reality of the characters' situation never was broken, there was no magical cure that ended everyone's problems and created the perfect resolution, and even though it's sad, it fit the novel, therefore creating a perfect resolution for the situation.
If this is on your to-read list but you are always picking up something else to read I really recommend that you give this one a chance next. It'll have you biting your nails and screaming inside your head until the very last page.
