This is the second book in the Amazon Original Stories series We Could Be Heroes. It’s a darkly inquisitive collection of short stories that examines heroic intentions versus their real-life consequences. This story is a story within a story. Charlie works at a crisis center and as her shift is ending she takes one more call. This caller is making things personal for Charlie. The side story is about Lanie and Chloe and navigating the teenage years. The takeaway from this short is social media is a liar. It’s easier to see that as adults but teenagers don’t see that. And I realize there are some adults that don’t as well. We are only seeing the parts of lives that people want us to see.
