I haven't read many sci-fi books before but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. The layout of the book was new and unique to me, which made the reading experience that much more fun. I also really enjoyed the book being told in third point of view and having the narration being unreliable and not being able to trust anyone.
Did some of this book seem really far-fetched like it could never happen in real life? yes. But also I loved the route this book took, even if Kady is a 17 year old who is apparently smart than every body else? I'm glad that Ezra wasn't really killed off and I like that the plot twist at the end was that it was his crazy mother that was basically in charge of the virus and murdering off thousands of people. And she still couldn't get her son. I will say, I almost immediately knew that Aidan was the one talking to her over the tablet, getting her to bored the ship because Ezra being stuck in the part of the ship that the hard drive was in was too perfectly lined up. I didn't know if Ezra was dead or not because Aidan was/is an extremely untrustworthy narrator. Also, Kady is too good of a person for everyone she is around. She sacrificed herself to try and save Ezra. When she thought he was dead, She sacrificed herself to get as many people off of the Alexandria as possible (saving just under 700 people) and finally, making her way around the infected to fight off the Lincoln.
