Jane Costello aka Catherine Isaac (You Me and Everything) has been a romance writer in the UK for years and Zibby Books is bringing her to the USA.
This romance features Lisa Darling, a TV writer who comes up with ideas for shows. A new, gruff, temporary co-worker Zach immediately dispels her ideas, if only she found him unattractive. She recently went through her second divorce and her oldest teenager is a hot mess (see triggers if you have any).
I can relate to the menopause and raising teenagers. I enjoy stories with older protagonists. I felt like it could have been edited a little better, but it’s a fun read.
“…but I can't deny it: He is almost offensively hot.” Ch 12
“…you're too good at your job for it to matter. My only real concern isn't about your reputation. She glances over and looks at me, flattening her smile.
"It's about your heart." Ch 35
“Leo is already his own person. In all honesty, he always was. All a parent can do is our best, in the hope that our best is good enough. I never expected it to be easy. I also didn't expect it to be this hard. But in the meantime, there are moments like this: when my boys and I are laughing, and my heart is so full it could burst.” Ch 53
