In Order to Live: A North Korean Girl's Journey to Freedom by Yeonmi Park

adventurous challenging dark emotional hopeful informative inspiring reflective sad tense medium-paced

5.0

I'd  put off reading this for a long time. I saw a speech she gave talking about being trafficked and seeing her mother r@ped. While it is a difficult read, and she doesn't shy away from the atrocities of her childhood, she does it in a very tactful way. She acknowledges what happened, but doesn't go into too much detail. She does paint a clear picture of her life in North Korea, China, and South Korea. Her drive for knowledge and her positive outlook (especially despite her circumstances) is truly inspiring.
