I am not a pro at this reviewing books thing, but I truly do not understand the hype over this book. I cannot find the right words to explain it. I recently just finished The Vanishing Half and Where the Crawdads Sings just reminded me of that one. Let me just say that I really disliked both of them. What is the point of the book??? There's nothing going on except a little girl that doesn't know how to read and that also doesn't know how to cook grits at least until the middle of the book. It is so boring. The plot lacks a lot. The trial it’s terrible. I am so disappointed because the reason I picked it up was because of the many good reviews. I mean, it's been on the charts for how long now??? And honestly I don't get it. It's incredibly sad in the sense that makes you want to put it down and not pick it up again. Thankfully I picked up the audiobook instead of the physical book because I would've used it to start a fire for Kya instead.
