I like short story collections, especially when they feel cohesive. Miss Kim Knows does a good job of poking at the experience of Koren women throughout their lives as workers, mothers, wives, widows, and students. I also appreciate that the collection was well-paced. I dislike it when short stories run too long, and I especially dislike it when they run too short. Except for Night of Aurora, this collection felt balanced.

That being said, "Night of Aurora", "Miss Kim Knows", and "Dear Hyunnam Oppa" were the only real standouts for me. In a collection of eight stories, three isn't too bad, but I felt that the final story, "Puppy Love, 2020" was a weak ending.

I value Cho Nam-Joo's perspective, but I think it works best for me in longer formats.
