Night Road by Kristin Hannah

“Maybe time didn't heal wounds exactly, but it gave you a kind of armor, or a new perspective. A way to remember with a smile instead of a sob.”

This was my first Kristin Hannah book and I loved it. Her writing style is so vivid and emotional that it pulls you right into the story and makes you feel like you are living it with the characters. It definitely made me excited to read more of her books.

This book has so many twists, and some are so major you almost wonder if you are still reading the same book. Hannah takes your emotions all over the place. One minute you are laughing with the family, the next you are in tears, and then you are frustrated or angry about what is happening. I was never bored for a second. I actually read it in one sitting because I had to know what would happen next.

Night Road has a lot of great messages about love, loss, forgiveness, and acceptance. It is such an emotionally layered story that a lot of different people can connect to in different ways. Whether you have lost someone to a tragic accident, are a mother, have complicated family relationships, or have had to figure out how to move forward after heartbreak, there is something here that will speak to you.

"It was easier to suppress heartache than to overcome it."
