This is such a heartwarming middle grade book about an immigrant Chinese girl and her parents running a motel. Several serious topics are introduced and handled with nuance and care, including racial profiling, classism, and labor and immigration rights. Ultimately hopeful, I could see this book really expanding young readers minds in ways they haven't before.
