Nothing Fancy: Unfussy Food for Having People Over by Alison Roman

4.0

there are a lot of interesting recipes here. they are mostly 'upgrades' of standards that make them more interesting with salt-acid-fat-heat sorts of tweaks that would add sparks of flavor. For example white beans with escarole, which is a standard, has capers, lemon and mint and plum almond cake has brown butter. Those sound really great and i intend to try them! My complaints are with the pictures--come on Alison, how could you have let them style you like a sex goddess? I bet that dopey styling has added ten bucks to the cost of this book.
