The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller

5.0

Beautiful if not simple prose. Miller manages to get a strong story out in as few sentences as possible without losing any of the impact.

I really appreciate Miller’s approach of retelling Achilles mythos from the preservative of him being as selfish and human as every character around him. His humanity in the story is so much of what gives it that emotional draw that makes it so hard to put down. The way she writes their relationship from start to finish and beyond is not free of it’s ‘oh that’s continent’ moments but none of them manage to take anything away from the worth of the story. Cannot recommend enough and have recommended many times.
