The Sound of Gravel by Ruth Wariner
4.0

Experiences and feelings I had when listening to this book: gut wrenching pit in my stomach, pity, anger towards the inhumanity of grown men, disappointment, small joys of a mother trying her hardest, pain, excitement for the siblings that finally escape, shock of a religious and lifestyle I just do not comprehend.

This was such an important book for Ruthie to write and release her traumas and as a listener I could hear it all through her narration. I can feel the push and pull she had for her mothers love whilst realizing that there could be so much more for their family if they just left LeBaron behind for good.
