naslhita 's review for:
The House of the Scorpion
by Nancy Farmer
Upgrading to a 4 out of 5
I think my past rating was due to an anti – dystopian mood I was on back then, but there was something that told me to sleep on my review before posting it, and boy did I take a while.
Cutting to the chase: I really appreciated the “questions about life”/ philosophical topics and setting. Very unique without being too strange to complicate your reading experience.
The transition or coming of age subplot and middle-grade like parts were kind of a hit and miss with me; or at least unnecessary in contrast to the others subplots.
Also, I wanted more from the world, I needed more!.
There’s a sequel, but I haven’t got to it because I really enjoyed the ending of this book and I don’t want to ruin it. Also I was told that you don’t need to read it in order to get the complete experience.
