I really enjoyed this book! It is my first experience with a YA series focused on this type of paranormal, , and honestly I don't think I would have read it if I had realised because it isn't something I would normally go for but it was really good and on par with many other YA series such as [b:Hush, Hush|6339664|Hush, Hush (Hush, Hush, #1)|Becca Fitzpatrick|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1358261334l/6339664._SY75_.jpg|6525609]. I'm so glad I read this book.
It had really interesting relationships between characters, even friendships, and especially between the two protagonists. It felt realistic and fun the way people communicated and acted.
During the first chapter I was worried that Kitty was going to be a very shy and pathetic protagonist but she quickly surprised me by being a well balanced character who was capable of being both strong and also vulnerable. I liked the way it discussed her dad through the book.
I will admit, it was a little slow getting into the whole 'what is their secret' part of the plot but it quickly spread up after that.
Overall, this was a really good book that offers new elements to the YA paranormal romance genre whilst also have all the best elements still their (in my opinion.) I will also say I loved how steamy it was in parts.
Can't wait to read the next one!

Did I enjoy reading long passages of Kitty getting physically assaulted because she has no ability to defend herself? No. I do hope that is better in the rest of the series because she just felt really reliant on others even though she was mentally strong.Overall, this was a really good book that offers new elements to the YA paranormal romance genre whilst also have all the best elements still their (in my opinion.)
