This Is How You Lose Her
by Junot Díaz
Junot Diaz - be still my beating heart. His writing is intoxicating, his sentences have rhythm, his words are raw, sensual, raunchy, and poetic. What's particularly interesting is that I had sworn off short story collections a long time ago because they normally fail to keep my interest - not allowing enough character or plot development to keep me satisfied. However, I was enthralled by the stories in This is How You Lose Her. (If I had to choose a favorite, it would probably be Invierno.) This paperback had been sitting on my shelf for years and I'm so glad I chose to devour it in the time of COVID.
