Signal to Noise by Silvia Moreno-Garcia

4.0

I was not won over by this book at the beginning...I'm not sure if it was due to the amount of stress I've had this week or maybe that the real heart of this book takes a while to make itself clear. But by the second half, I couldn't put it down. The characters are complicated, no one is innocent in the end, which is something that took me a while to accept and really treasure. It's messy, really mean at times, and still beautiful. And I loved how Moreno-Garcia captures the magic of teenage years and the connection to music...I totally related, especially in the way Meche revered 60s music as I did at that age. I can't wait to see where she takes us next. (I hope I hope I hope there might be a story about the grandmother and her sisters!)
