Odd Girl Out: An Autistic Woman in a Neurotypical World
by Laura James
emotional
informative
reflective
medium-paced
This was a really interesting and intimate memoire from a woman diagnosed with autism in her 40s, how autism has shaped her life and experiences and how she learned to embrace and manage her autism after she was diagnosed. We have so little representation of autism in women and this book blended the authors experiences with comments from experts in the field. I would recommend this to anyone seeking information about autism to understand themselves or someone in their life and to anyone who feels different and wants a book to celebrate and empower them.
