Tastes Like Shakkar
by Nisha Sharma
i think that every rom com that i've picked up recently has been touched by midas, because all of them are absolute gold. not just on the romance side, but the comedy side too. take this book for example--not only was it a shakespeare retelling, but it involved a) a marriage, b) one of those elements where it's the whole friend group slowly pairing off (aka my favorite thing), and c) copious amounts of angst. so, in my opinion, perfection. couple that with great representation and a bunch of biting wit and a lot of food AND found family, and you've got yourself a page-turning, laugh out loud rom com, that 100% breaks the second book syndrome mold (i honestly might like it even better than the first?). needless to say, 5⭐️!
