Wow, was this rich. Oates’ attention to detail & character in this book is unmatched. It’s not a very fast-paced read, & it’s certainly more character-driven than it is plot-driven. By the end it felt like I’d lived with all of the characters, and we all gave a collective sigh on the final page.
