The Emperor's Babe by Bernardine Evaristo

I mean like... she kinda slapped??

How iconic do you have to be to write about a woman living in the THIRD century but with modern language? AND in verse? I don't think I have an answer.

No, but seriously, this was so incredibly fascinating. I loved the writing style, especially the dialogue and pretentious monologues. I loved the language the author used to paint this setting. I thought it was so well formulated and easy to follow along.

My only complaint is that I think it did drag at some points, or maybe I just wasn't interested.

But overall, SO well done omg. And definitely recommend. Now to write my essay.
