The Winner's Kiss
by Marie Rutkoski
Gosh. GOSH. GOSH. I'm going to go ahead and say it right now. The Winner's Kiss is definitely the best book out of the whole series. Not only was the writing insanely beautiful and dreamy and powerful all at once, but the strength behind every word, every action unfolding had my heart in an iron fist the entire time I was reading the novel.
I will say, when I read the first book, I was a little underwhelmed. Kestrel and Arin fell in love a little too fast for my taste and things progressed just generally too quickly, but wowee, me oh my did this book make up for everything that had happened. After all the struggles that Kestrel and Arin have been through on their own and together, it was so heartwarming to see them finally get what they deserve. I loved so much about this novel, from Arin's connection with the Death God, to Kestrel's acceptance of her role in war and with her father. Everything played out better than I could have ever anticipated.
When I finished, I couldn't help but cry a little because I was so relieved and so content. It was bittersweet. If I could read the series over again from the start, I honestly would. I would save every word like sugar on my tongue.
