The Leavenworth Case by Anna Katharine Green

3.0

Listened to it on audiobook.

I don't think I have much to say about this book. It was interesting as what it is in the time it was written and published, as to the specific things that were most likely innovation for the genre. I had a good time overall, though it was peculiar to me that what is supposed to be the main detective isn't that much implicated in the investigation (even through what I think might be a disguise).

It's a book of its time on top of that, so some stuff feel clunky here and there, on top of the general way of talking about people, mainly women (even if the author is one).

I also feel like there was little to no way to find the culprit before the big reveal, though I don't personally care that much about it.

Not sure I'll read more of Mr Gryce, but I'm not against it either.
