Fix Her Up by Tessa Bailey

emotional tense slow-paced

3.5

3.5 stars. Part of me feels like I set this book up for failure because while I do love fake dating, I'm not much for the Friends-to-lovers or "I've been in love with this person for awhile but never told them" tropes. Okay, the stuff I enjoy

*I really felt for Georgie's struggle. I'm the youngest and there's a 10+ age gap between me and my siblings so I absolutely identified with her desire to be seen as an adult and her fear of stepping her game up.
* Her relationship with her sister and Rose! I was afraid that they'd be jealous/bitter towards each other but I love how quickly that was dismissed and how supportive they were of each other
*Georgie literally being the town clown was great
*The chemistry between her and Travis was amazing and I bought what drew them to each other
*I'm bummed that there's not a Dude-squad but that adds to how Travis is constantly surrounded by people, not many people actually know (Or even talk to) him

Okay, the bad.

*Stephen was the actual worst. I could go into details but no. Just the worst. So is Kirsten
*I'm not a fan of Bailey's voice. While she's good at building tension, there were moments where her references and word choice would take me out of the moment. That's a personal taste thing though
*No one outside of Travis, Georgie and maybe Beth felt like real 3-d characters. They just felt like tropes or NPCs fulfilling their role. Yeah, I understand that not EVERYONE will feel fleshed out but it's 400 pages and the main secondary characters feel like they're just doing a bit. It was off-putting.

Overall, I'm giving it 3.5 stars because I definitely felt the things Bailey was going for and while I adore Rosie, I doubt I'll be continuing with the series.
