Lore by Alexandra Bracken focuses around Lore, the remaining member of the Perseus bloodline. Although she tries to escape this world and the Agon – seven days every seven years designated for mortals of certain Greek bloodlines to potentially become powerful immortals by hunting and destroying gods – Lore gets drawn back into the world.

Lore reminds me of a more adult version of Percy Jackson and The Hunger Games. This book took me about 150 pages to truly get into. I think Bracken had a great idea with this story, but it wasn’t executed well. Even after finishing the book, I was still left a little confused about what exactly was going on. You have to go into this book with a lot of knowledge of Greek mythology, both general and trivia type knowledge. I think this book would’ve been easier to digest with more explanation from the author upon introducing new terms and Greek concepts.
