it is evident that Dostoevsky built in several stories, that are not integral to the plot nor the message of the book, making it at times appear to be loosing the central thread. Nonetheless, the philosophical ideas embodied in the main characters and the complexities of even the side characters make for a deeply psychological, sociological and thought-provoking story. Truly a masterpiece!
